BOWMAN LAKE DADS
Sometimes the best therapy truly is camp therapy. Even though we could only do a day trip since the wife is 36 weeks pregnant, and dispersed camping without cell service is probably not the greatest idea, we still had a blast being out with the PURE 4×4 & YABS folks. Most of us have been to Bowman Lake in the past, but this time around, the water levels were a lot higher, which created a nice peninsula around our camp area big enough to accommodate roughly 20 rigs. It’s been hot in Sac, so the slight weather change to mid 60’s was nice, warm enough towards the afternoon to hit the lake to swim and paddle board.
This trip was a combination of both the PURE 4×4 and YABS families, and it was dope to see everyone down to the kids kickin’ it with each other, having a good time. Tons of food, drank, RC crawlers, laughs, and good vibes. It was also a treat to have the nephew, Maeson, mixing music for all the uncs lol. Awesome full circle moment seeing Maeson DJ since we’ve been accustomed to Richie DJ’ing for the past 15 years at our events.
I came home to over 400 photos on the camera (I don’t even remember taking the last 100 or so), and I’m glad I was able to capture the trip, as this may be one of my last ones for a while. With the baby due soon, we may not be able to be outside again like this till next year. But we shall see…
What is certain, though, is that some changes will be made to my LC100. The trip to Bowman isn’t technical at all, but it does have a lot of washboard sections and some large dips. Although the 100 did perform decently, it will be going under the knife to get some minor yet necessary suspension changes, including shocks, torsion bars, control arms, etc. I’d definitely have to return to do a comparison update on the ride quality and stability through the trail.
